Chair Yoga, 5 May 2017.
USF Libraries
Earlier this month, I was asked to lead a chair yoga session for my colleagues as the USF Libraries. Even though most of the In-Service Day participants chose Coloring as their midday activity, a few yogis popped in to learn helpful techniques to alleviate the stress our bodies experience from sitting at desk jobs.
Our favorite pose of the session? A variation of dolphin, in which the forearms are placed in the seat of the chair, head and neck relax, shoulders open and shoulder blades move towards each other, and hips draw back and up as they would in a traditional dolphin (or downward-facing dog) position on the mat.
